IPU Team won the First Prize
In the 11th Manawatu Chinese Speech Competition
第11回 マナワツ中国語スピーチ大会 IPU チーム 優勝
On 15 October 2017, Four IPU students participated in the 11th Manawatu Chinese Speech Competition held at Globe Theatre in Palmerston North and won the First Prize. This competition is a big Chinese language and cultural event co-organized every year by New Zealand Chinese Association Inc; New Zealand China Friendship Society; Manawatu Chinese community Trust, etc.
2017年10月15日、IPU New Zealandの学生4名が、パーマストンノースのグローブシアターで開催された第11回マナワツ中国語スピーチ大会に出場し、見事優勝いたしました。このスピーチ大会は毎年恒例の非常に大きな中国語、中国文化関連のイベントで、ニュージーランド・中国協会、ニュージーランド・中国友好協会、マナワツ中国コミュニティトラスト等の団体が共同開催しています。
In the competition, more than 30 participants were divided into four different categories. IPU’s Vietnamese student Pham Caius Dat performed at Senior category and his topic was “Rubik’s Cube”. He delivered his speech fluently without relying on notes. Three Japanese students, Nakamura Juri, Kataoka Yuki and Kanada Kotaro performed as a group with the topic of “Taro learning Chinese”. They used their experience to show how difficulty for Japanese to learn Chinese even though they have similar Chinese character background. Their performance was very interesting and gained big laughter from the audience. IPU team won the first prize in both categories ( individual and group).
大会では、30名以上の参加者が4つのカテゴリーに分かれて発表しました。IPU のベトナム人学生 Pham Caius Dat さんは、シニアのカテゴリーで参加。スピーチの題目は「ルービックキューブ」でした。彼はメモを見ることなく、流暢にスピーチをしました。3名の日本人学生、中村朱里さん、片岡優希さん、金田浩太郎さんは「太郎が中国語を学ぶ」という題目でグループで発表しました。3名は、自分達の経験を用い、漢字という似たバックグランドがあっても、日本人にとって中国語を学ぶのは非常に難しいことを表現しました。彼らのパフォーマンスはとても面白く、観客は大爆笑でした。IPUチームは個人の部、グループの部両方のカテゴリーで優勝しました。
“I feel more confident, I want to participate next year” said one of the students after the speech competition. The Speech competition is a very good chance to show students’ learning achievements as well as to help them learn more from each other.
大会後、在学生の1人は「さらに自信がつきました。来年も参加したいです」と感想を述べました。スピーチ大会はお互いの学習を助け合うだけでなく、学習の成果を発表する非常に良い機会になっています。
