～学生レポート～　IPU New Zealand　ライブラリー紹介　②

前回のライブラリー紹介①は読んでいただけたでしょうか。
日本の図書館は、入ると身がひきしまるくらい静かで、音を立てたらいけない、という感覚ですが、ニュージーランドの図書館はちょっと違うようです。また、日本語を勉強するニュージーランド人学生や日本人学生も多いIPU New Zealandだからこそ読める日本語の新聞、雑誌などの書籍も貴重です。

1回目は、入り口を入ったところの紹介をしました。今回はもっと奥のエリアを紹介します。

入り口を入ってすぐの区画の紹介はここまでとして、他の区画も紹介していきたいと思います。

Then, let’s conclude with the introduction of the section located nearest the entrance and I would like to introduce other sections.

まず、入り口から「左手」に位置する自習空間と参考文献のコーナーです。

Here is the area for private study and references to the left of the entrance.

この自習空間では、個人で学習に取り組むことを目的としているため、机が個々で仕切られ、写真の様に、静かに学習しなければいけません。

The aim of this area is to study individually. So, the seats are partitioned into separate individual seats and we are required to study quietly like the picture below.

参考文献のコーナーでは、国際関係学や環境学などに関する図書がズラリと陳列されていて、授業のレポートに使う場合もあります。

In the area for references, you can find a lot of reference books on international relations, environment, etc. Also, you can pick up some reliable academic sources from these books and use them for your assignments.

では、また入り口に戻って今度は「右手」に位置するチュートリアルルームとコピー機のコーナーです。

The next is the area for tutorial rooms and photocopiers to the right of the entrance.

ライブラには大・中・小と３つの個室があり、大・中の個室に関しては、受付で事前に使用予約をすることができ、委員会や夜間授業など学生が積極的に使用しています。

In the library, there are 3 tutorial rooms in a large, medium, or small size.
You can book only the large and medium-sized rooms at the reception beforehand when you want to use. These rooms are actively used by many students for committees, night classes, etc.

そして、コピー機はライブラ内に２台あり、キャンパス内全体を含めると約10台のコピー機が設置されています。

Also, 2 photocopiers are installed in the library and you can find 10 copiers in total on campus.

学生は、「ペーパーカット」というIPUの印刷サイトから私用のパソコンに保存してあるワードファイルなどの書類を印刷することができ、１学期毎にチャージされる２０ドル分の内、１枚の印刷には0.1ドルしか消費されないため、安心して授業の課題やTOEIC等の自主学習に取り組めます。

The students can print the documents like Word files in their own laptops from the IPU’s website called “Papercut”. To print one side on the paper, you just consume only NZ$0.1 from NZ$20.0 charged per semester. Therefore, you can do self-study such as assignments and TOEIC at ease.

最後に、ライブラ内の左右２カ所ずつ設置されている「公共用パソコン」について紹介したいと思います。

In the end, I would like to introduce “the public desktops” installed on 2 places at each side in the library.

公共用パソコンは、４カ所すべて合わせて１５台設置されていて、たまに、私用のパソコンを持っていない外国人学生が課題に使ったりしていますが、全ての学生に使用権利があるので、混んでない時間帯を見つけながら譲り合って使いましょう。

The public desktops have 15 in total and they are used by some international students who do not have their own laptops for their assignments. However, all the people have the right to use them, so let’s use them with everyone fairly by finding the less crowded time of day.

ここだけの話、自分のWi-Fiのギガを食わないので、ここで課題をしてWi-Fiの枠を節約をする学生もいます。。。
(注：ニュージーランド、およびIPU NZでは、Wi-fiはどこでも使いたい放題使える、というわけではありません。1ヶ月に利用できる枠に制限があります)

Speaking confidentiality, some students work on their assignments here to save their Wi-Fi because the public desktops are automatically connected to the Internet.

ライブラの営業時間に関しては、祝日や学内行事により変更はありますが、１学期間と２学期間は以下の通りです。(*３学期間は閉館時間が短縮されます。)

In regard to the library hours, it is subject to change due to the public holidays and school events, but you can check the hours for Semester 1 & 2 as follows:
