今日はIPUニュージーランドを飛び出して、街のショッピングモール「ザ・プラザ」を紹介したいと思います！
Hello! This time, I left IPU New Zealand to cover “The Plaza”, which is a shopping mall in town.
プラザの中にはフードコート（飲食店）やスーパーマーケットを含む103もの店が立ち並び、学生御用達のスポットとなっています。バス停から５分で行けるのも魅力の一つです。
As much as 103 shops including a food court and supermarket are located in Plaza and the mall is the most popular spot in Palmerston North for the students. Also, one of the biggest attractions lies in its easy access which is 5-minutes’ walk from the bus stop.
それでは、早速中に入ってみましょう！
Then, let’s enter The Plaza!
写真の通り、建物の中は外観から想像するよりも奥行きのある広々とした空間が広がっています。
As shown in the picture, the inside of the building is a more spacious space than as we expect from the external appearance of the building.
ということで、そんなプラザが誇る100以上のお店の中から、IPU生活に役立つ厳選５店をご紹介したいと思います！
Then, I would like to introduce my selection of the 5 most useful shops for the life in IPU New Zealand out of more than 100 shops there.
まず１店目は、「Whitcoulls (ウィッコラス?)」、文房具専門店です。ノート、ペン、便箋など何でも
文房具で困りごとがあれば、ここで大体解決してしまいます！！
The first shop is “Whitcoulls”. It is a stationer’s. If you want to find notebooks, pens, and notepads, you can find whatever you need.
２店目は、「K mart (ケー・マート)」、何でも激安で手に入るプラザの中で最も大きいお店です。
取り扱っている商品としては、食器類、キッチン用品、おもちゃ、靴、衣類、スポーツ用品、電化製品、インテリアと生活に関わる物のほとんどです！
The second one is “Kmart”.
So to speak, it is the largest shop where we can get anything at a cheap price in Plaza. They have variety of living goods, such as the dishes, kitchen appliances, toys, shoes, clothes, sporting goods, electrical appliances, and interior decoration etc.
３店目は、「JB Hi-Fi (ジェイビー・ハイファイ)」。
ゲームがメインのお店ですが、テレビやパソコン等の電化製品も取り扱っているお店です。
Apple製品も置いてあるので、私は充電コードが故障した際に利用していて、とても便利でした。
The third is “JB Hi-Fi”.
Mainly, the shop is selling games, but also handling electrical appliances such as televisions and laptops. Since the electrical appliances include Apple products, it is convenient for us to buy a new charging cord when the old one is broken.
４店目は、「countdown (カウントダウン)」。スーパーマーケットです。
近さでいうと、ニューワールド。安さでいうと、パッキンセーブ。
ではカウントダウンに求めるものはというと、「商品の珍しさ」です。
食品や調味料でお探しの物が初めの２店で見つけられなくても、countdownで探せばきっと見つかります！
The fourth is “countdown”, supermarket. If your priority is “easy access”, I recommend “New World”. If your priority is “cheapness”, I recommend “PAK’n SAVE”. Then, what we require to “countdown” is uniqueness. If you cannot find the foods or seasonings which you look for at the first two shops, you should be able to find it at countdown !
最後は、「food court (フードコート)」
厳密に言うと、１店舗ではありませんが、１エリアとして紹介します。
プラザのフードコートには８店の飲食店が隣接し、うどん、寿司、バーガー、餃子、ドーナツなど様々なジャンルのメニューが楽しめます！
また、一品(いっぴん)という店名のラーメン屋さんが開店予定だそうで、フードコートが更に活気付くこと間違いなしです！
The last recommendation is “ food court” .
Strictly speaking, it’s not a shop but I would like to introduce an area.
The food court in Plaza has 8 eating places adjacent to each other and you can enjoy the menus of various genres, such as udon, sushi, burger, dumpling, and donut. For your information, it is scheduled to open a ramen shop called ‘Ippin’ so the food court will become a livelier place.
