IPU New Zealandキャンパスの真向かいに「サマーヒルショッピングセンター」があります。
夜9時まで営業しているスーパーマーケット「ニューワールド」、レストラン3件、郵便業務、クリーニング受付もしている薬局があります。今回は、学生たちが一番頻繁に行っているニューワールドスーパーマーケットを紹介したいと思います。
レポーターは前回同様、4年生の山内さん、4年間、毎日のように通ったスーパーの様子をレポートしてもらいます。
大学の周りの様子も少しイメージしてもらえれば、と思います。
本日と来週火曜日（11月21日）の２回に分けてお届けします。今日は第1回目のレポートです。
英訳もしてもらいました。受験生の皆さんも、卒業するころにはこれくらい立派な英語が書けるようになります。

はい、みなさん、こんにちは！ Kia Ora !
今日は、先ほど行ってきたIPUニュージーランドから徒歩約５分で着くスーパーマーケット「ニュー・ワールド」をご紹介したいと思います。
Hello! Today, I would like to introduce a supermarket called “New World” which is about 5 minutes’ walk from IPU New Zealand.
それにしても名前にインパクトあり過ぎですよね。日本語に直訳したら「新世界」。。。
By the way, it’s about the name of this supermarket. Don’t you think it is an exaggerated name?
そんな、ニュー・ワールドの外観がこちらです。
I think the readers are curious about what it looks like so please look at the picture below.
普通のスーパーマーケットです。
では、建物の中はというと、こんな感じです。
Well, it is an ordinary supermarket.
Then, let’s see what we can find when we enter this store.
ご覧の通り、表記が英語という以外、日本のスーパーマーケットと変わりないので、安心して買い物を楽しむことが出来ます！
As you can see, we cannot find any big difference except English text with Japanese supermarket so we can enjoy our shopping with an easy mind.
もし、下の写真の様な棚に野菜や果物が特盛されている 『ザ・外国！』という光景が見たければ、IPUニュージーランドからバスに10分ほど揺られて街の中心部に行きましょう。
If you would like to see how plenty of vegetables and fruits put on the shelves like the picture below and feel like being in a foreign country, you should go to town by bus in ten minutes.
街には、「パッキンセーブ」というコストコ級に大きいスーパーマーケットが
あるので、そこなら上の光景が入り口を入ってすぐの区画で見ることが出来ます。
In town, you can find a supermarket called “PAK’n SAVE” as big as Costco and you can see that view in the area located near the entrance.
それでは、本題のニュー・ワールド紹介に戻ります。
Now, let’s come back to the subject.
ニュージーランドでは、マウンテンデュー(直訳：山の雫)という炭酸飲料が売られているのですが、これが美味しい！
私のオススメの味は王道の緑色なのですが、味の説明は難しいため、ニュージーランドにお越しになった際に是非飲んで頂きたいです！
I recommend you to try a carbonated drink called “Mountain Dew” on sale in New Zealand and my favorite flavor is a main flavor contained in a green plastic bottle.
This time, I would like to omit the description about this flavor due to the difficulty of explaining in text. So, I would be grateful if you could try it when you come to New Zealand.
次に紹介するのは、夜の映画鑑賞のお供「ポップコーン」です。
寮の電子レンジに３分突っ込んでおくだけで簡単に出来上がりますし、温めている間は、あのポンポン音も楽しめます！
The next recommendation is Popcorn for the night movie viewing.
You can enjoy eating it easily as long as you warm it up for just 3 minutes in the microwave in the dormitory. Also, you can enjoy that popping sound while heating.
そして、その中でも味濃いめが好きな私がオススメするのは、「ACT II」Butter Lovers Flavour！
Then, I recommend those who like a strong taste to eat “ACT II” Butter Lovers Flavour.
日本であれば、バター何％増量！とか表記されているかと思いますが、そこを、「バターを愛する人のための味」と表記してしまうところが、外国らしくて良いですよね。
In Japan, it may show just like “20% Butter Increase” for advertisement, but I like the point that most foreign companies exaggerate an expression to advertise their products.
勘の鋭い方はお気づきかと思いますが、先ほどのマウンテンデューとのマッチングは最強です。
As you may have noticed, that popcorn goes well with Mountain Dew introduced before.
次は、ニュージーランドのお土産によく挙げられる「TWININGS」です。
会社自体はイギリスの紅茶メーカーらしく、そこがニュージーランド限定で「ニュージーランド・ブレックファースト」と「ニュージーランド・アールグレイ」という味を出しているそうです。
私もこちらの夏休みに日本へ一時帰国した際に、お土産として購入致しました。
The next is “TWININGS” bought for one of the famous souvenirs from New Zealand.
The manufacturer is based in England and this tea manufacturer produces the flavors of “New Zealand Breakfast” and “New Zealand Earl Grey” in New Zealand only.
In fact, I bought one of these flavors for souvenir when I returned to Japan during the summer break in December 2015.
